Chas Gillespie
New Yorker, McSweeney's Internet Tendency
Chas Gillespie is a writer and comedian whose work is published in The New Yorker, The Onion, Slackjaw, and McSweeney's Internet Tendency, where he is a regular contributor. He holds a BA in English Literature from Harvard and an MFA in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College.
“Chas provided a lot of insight into comedy writing. As a non-comedy writer, I took this course because I write a lot of copy for social media and marketing pieces. I felt the company would help me develop my writing voice. Bonus is that I have the start of an interesting humor piece based on Chas' workshop.”
“Chas was well-organized, responded well to participants, and had excellent exercises.”
“Chas did a great job breaking down the basics of humor writing from comedy lenses, to genre and the use of escalation. I really felt like I went from knowing nothing to knowing enough to submit somewhere.”
“Chas did well with how the class was structured, weaving between lectures, brainstorming, and writing. The class was also well-paced.”
