Sam Ernst Carnival RowIn this five-week Online TV Character Driven Writing Revision Workshop, we’ll work on crafting a great beatsheet, outline and writing scenes that are rich, exciting and make sure that showrunners will demand to meet with you. You can bring in a pilot at any phase: new idea, partial draft, or a draft you want to revise. First, we’ll get together online and talk more about your specific projects. Then you’ll put your scenes/beats/outlines up on the screen and we’ll go through them line by line. This intimate intensive (8 students) will focus on writing story beats, acts, scenes, killer characters and most importantly, killer character intros. By the end of the class, you’ll have refined those first ten pages & have a clear path to a high quality draft. You can take this class whether you have just an idea, or a beat sheet, a full script or anything in-between). Overall deal not included.

Showrunner, Amazon's CROSS, 7 pilots

Sam Ernst is currently a Co-Showrunner on season two of Amazon's CROSS. He was an Executive Producer on season one and before that, an EP on Amazon's CARNIVAL ROW with Orlando Bloom. He wrote on Apple TV’s TRUTH BE TOLD with Octavia Spencer, was Co-Executive producer for Marvel’s DAREDEVIL (Netflix), Co-Executive Producer of HAND OF GOD (Amazon) and the co-creator/Executive Producer of SyFy Network’s HAVEN, based on a book by Stephen King. Sam also sold seven pilots FX, Amazon, Apple, and ABC. He has been on staff for THE DEAD ZONE, and Consulting Producer on NBC’s CRISIS, starring Gillian Anderson and Dermot Mulroney. He’s also worked for Legendary Studios, 20th Century/Fox, Lionsgate, FX, ABC Studios and Entertainment One.
