You have a killer beat sheet for your TV Pilot, but when you sit down to write, everything turns to mush: vague characters, huge data dumps, clunky dialogue, and scenes that go nowhere. If this sounds familiar, successful writer Sylvia Batey Alcala (A MAN ON THE INSIDE, ORDINARY JOE, 1 Pilot ) can help. In this eight-week TV Draft Writing Workshop, you’ll get Sylvia’s help crafting an amazing outline and writing scenes that have a complete beginning, middle, and end that pack a serious punch.
You’ll learn to how to open your pilot, capture the imagination of the reader, write with a clear voice, and introduce your main character like a pro. By the end of the class you should have major chunks of your pilot written and the confidence to finish it with flair. Emmy not included.

Sylvia Batey Alcalá is a writer-producer on Mike Schur's acclaimed mystery comedy, A MAN ON THE INSIDE (Netflix), most recently serving as a Consulting Producer for season two. Sylvia is also a Supervising Producer on Amazon's upcoming romance EVERY YEAR AFTER. She has previously written for the family comedy PRIMO (Amazon), as well as the dramas LEGACIES (CW), ORDINARY JOE (NBC) and FIELD OF DREAMS (UTV). Her romantic traumedy pilot, NEXT OF KIN, sold to WB in a competitive situation. She has worked across media as a writer-director-actor-hyphen enthusiast, with films and a digital series that have played Oscar-qualifying festivals and collected numerous accolades. Prior to her career as a writer, she worked in Warner Bros TV Main Production. Sylvia is an alum of the Sundance Episodic Lab and the Black List/WIF Feature Residency. MORE
