Pre-requisite: Beat sheet for a 1/2 hour comedy or dramedy finished in TV 1 or TV Comedy 1 at Writing Pad. No 1 hour projects allowed, no projects that have not been vetted in a Writing Pad TV 1 class. Professional TV writers who have sold scripts or written on a TV show can skip this pre-requisite.

Unfortunately, the thought of actually writing the pilot fills you with dread every time you stare down at the blank screen. No problem! Anna Salinas (LOOT, MO, 3 Scripts Sold) will take you through the paces in this 10-week Online TV Comedy Pilot Draft Writing Workshop. She will help you hone your beat sheets, turn them into an outline, and introduce your characters with pizazz. Anna will also show you how to write that killer opening scene and turn your detailed roadmap into literary gold. By the end of this Online TV Comedy Draft Writing Workshop, you’ll have made progress on your first draft and be on your to way to revising it. Emmy not included.

Anna Salinas

Anna Salinas is a screenwriter/director. She has written on various TV shows including LOOT (Apple TV), MO (Netflix), FLATBUSH MISDEMEANORS (Showtime), GURU NATION (Paramount+), and the BIG MOUTH spin-off HUMAN RESOURCES. She sold an animated half hour pilot to Hulu and a live action short-form series to Disney, as well as a feature to Sony and Columbia Pictures. She’s currently in pre-production on her directorial debut, INES UNFORTUNATELY, set to shoot later this year. Anna recently published a New York Times Modern Love essay. Prior to her work as a professional writer, Anna received an MFA in screenwriting from UCLA and was a Sundance New Voices fellow. More recently, she was named a WIF directing fellow, sponsored by Netflix. When she’s not working, Anna mentors emerging writers in the WIF/Blacklist Episodic and feature labs. Outside of TV and film, Anna has performed comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade for the last decade, writing sketch and improving on various house teams.
