Using fun in-class exercises, we’ll help you transform your bad blind dates and visits from unruly parents into insightful, compelling revelations. Successful essayist Rich Monahan (NY Times, Esquire, Vice, Moth GrandSLAM) will help you dig deep into your treasure trove of personal experience to find the literary diamond in the rough that you can polish into a hilarious, relatable and tantalizing gem. You’ll even get a private meeting to get final notes on your piece and figure out where to send it. By the end of class, you’ll have a kick-ass essay that is ready to be submitted for publication and a plan of where to submit it. Your goal will be to sell your essay within a couple of weeks after the class ends!

Rich Monahan is a writer, storyteller, and producer living in Los Angeles. His writing has been featured in The New York Times, Vice, Esquire SG, McSweeney's, Grantland, and more. A Moth GrandSLAM winner, he is currently a co-host of That Reminds Me, a live monthly storytelling show in Los Angeles. Projects he produced have appeared online, on television, at SXSW, and the Sundance Film Festival.
