NY Times Modern Love Having trouble focusing on your writing? Feeling directionless? Do you have tons of ideas but no follow through? Or maybe you have trouble getting started on creative projects. Or you’ve lost your writing mojo. In this one day creative restoration class, successful writer Autumn Stephens (NYT Modern Love, 20 books) will teach you creative resiliency skills, help you work through your blocks and map out an action plan to get your creative mojo back — or find it! You’ll explore techniques for tapping into your imagination and generating story ideas, tasks for minimizing distractions and concrete guidelines for establishing strong writing habits. You’ll leave the class with clear direction and steps to help you move you towards your writing goals, and living a new (and improved!) creative life. Expect a supportive environment and some generative writing exercises to help you get some words on the page. The class is applicable to those working on writing in any genre: blog, essay, memoir, nonfiction, novel, poetry, essay screenplay and TV pilot.

Autumn Stephens's essays, reporting, and reviews have appeared in the New York Times Modern Love column, New York Times, the 2019 “best of” Modern Love anthology, and the San Francisco Chronicle. She is the editor of two anthologies of women’s personal essays and author of the popular Wild Women book series. She's a Stanford alum and a former editor of The East Bay Monthly and has extensive experience teaching writing classes. In addition, Autumn is an experienced writing coach who has assisted many students in crafting, editing, and polishing college essays. Her former students have been admitted to top colleges such as Columbia. MORE
