Do you have a hysterical idea for next season’s hit breakout comedy? Then this five-week TV Comedy Pilot Writing Workshop in Los Angeles is for you. Let successful TV writer Devanshi Patel, share her secrets for developing the DNA of your show, finding the funny, developing characters that bring us back, season after season. Through lively craft lectures and Todd’s help on your script idea, you’ll have developed the formula for your series and defined your main characters.
By the end of this class, you’ll have completed a solid beat sheet of an irresistible comedy pilot that will save you a spot at the writers’ table! Laugh track not included.
Note: If you have never taken a TV writing class before, we strongly recommend you take the TV 101 and TV Structure for Pilot Writing in addition to this class. This class will be capped at 8 students.
God Friended Me, Blackish, ABC Fellow
Devanshi Patel was a 2014 ABC Fellow. She has written on CBS's God Friended Me, ABC’s Black-ish and TBS’s Ground Floor. In 2017, she sold 1 pilot to the CW. Devanshi cut her comedy chops performing stand up all over clubs in New York City and touring on the east coast. She starting writing scripts and when the first pilot she wrote got her into the FOX Writer’s Fellowship, she moved to LA and took classes at UCLA and got improv training at the Upright Citizens Brigade. She has a BS in Finance and International Business from NYU and worked in Finance – experience she later took and wrote about in a pilot that helped her get into the ABC Writers Program.
