In this 5-week Los Angeles short story workshop, successful writer Ryan McIlvain will help you craft a brilliant, heartfelt tale about the human condition! Through fun, in-class writing exercises and engaging craft talks, he’ll help you brainstorm new ideas and write a draft of a Pulitzer prize-winning gem. He’ll show you how to hook readers with an engaging premise, share his method for discovering his characters and help you get to a killer ending in five pages or less. By end of the class, you’ll have a polished publication-ready short story as well as a solid plan for where to submit it. Experienced and beginning writers welcome. Before you know it, you will be ready to join the ranks of the 29 students who have published short stories after taking this class.

PAYMENT PLANS: A payment plan for this class is 5 weekly payments of $92.00. All payment plans include an additional $50 admin fee and a small credit card processing fee which is built into each weekly payment. Your card will automatically be charged 5 times every week until your class is paid off. At minimum, you must pay for each class meeting before it meets. Once you sign up for a payment plan, you are responsible for paying in full regardless of your class attendance. Rejected payment transactions are subject to an additional $25 fee. CANCELLATION POLICY: All sales are final and there are no refunds. Credit may be offered based on class availability. If you can’t come to class, call or email us as far in advance as possible. We will do everything we can to fill your spot, but we can’t make any guarantees. Credit eligibility is not based upon your reason for being unable to attend a class; it is based upon the timing of your credit request and our ability to fill your spot. If we find someone to take your place, you will receive class credit minus a $25 processing fee for 1 day classes and $50 processing fee for long classes. Otherwise, your payment will be forfeit.
