After winning Writing Pad’s Story Lotto competition (out of over 100 contestants) in August 2014, Kevin McGeehan brought a few prize winning stories to Cole Kazdin’s “Publishing Your Personal Essay” class in September 2014. Kevin transformed what he learned in the essay class and used the feedback he got on his stories to immediately publish one essay in Reimagine (before the class was even over) and three essays in Men’s Health!
You can read about a heartwarming coffee chat, be shocked by the time he dodged a bullet, moved by his discovery of the “unintentional gift” of cancer, and have your funny bone tickled by his epic bromance in these great essays:
“Day By Day”
“What It’s Like to Have a Gun Pointed at Your Head”
“Cancer Is Awful. Here’s One Good Thing It Brings to the World”
“Staying Friends Through Strip Clubs, Death and a Shotgun Wedding”
Congratulations, Kevin–we are so impressed by your excellent writing and rapid publishing success!
